June 4th, Check

Two more days down since I last updated ya'll. So, here's the scoop.

June 3rd, I spent the day going to a community clinic and playing with kids at the hospital pediatric ward. The morning at the community clinic was pretty non-eventful in terms of needing medical assistance, but I got to talk to a couple of really sweet kids and their uncle as well as see first hand the type of outdoor bathroom facility featured in "Slumdog Millionaire". (see pictures below)

After the community clinic, I went to play with the kids. Some of you gave me balloons and play dough for them and my wonderful mom added to the mix by purchasing several other items. Let's just say, they LOVED them. :-) I had a chance to color with Maleka, who is awaiting a cleft palate surgery. I made her a few drawings and she was so happy. We were instant friends.

June 4th, spent the day in ICCU (Intensive Cardiac Care Unit) at Mercy Hospital. Had a chance to pray for 4 of the patients, one of whom died 30 minutes later. I believe the Lord had a purpose in that. Who knows how God revealed Himself to that man in those 30 minutes? He is by no means constrained by physical reality. Had another patient who came in with very serious burns. I cannot think of a worse ailment. All I could do was pray for her. On a lighter note, I also had a chance to assist in a central line insertion via jugular and subclavian vein (5 hits to the Carotid artery later...) and visit, read the Bible, and pray with another patient who was about to be discharged. Those moments were irreplaceable. It was a day filled with experiences.

I praise the Lord for your prayers. Thus far, I remain healthy and have finally caught up on sleep (despite the best attempts of the local mosques to wake me up at 5 AM with the call to prayer). Thanks for keeping up with my journey! I so appreciate each one of you!
