Five Day Review

Now that I have spent 5 days looking at 5 different titles, I feel the need to do a quick recap and remind my easily wayward heart of all that the Lord has revealed.

JESUS IS...
Day 1- The Last Adam
Day 2- Advocate
Day 3- All and in all
Day 4- Alpha and Omega
Day 5- The one who is and who was and who is to come

Out of the five titles of Christ that I have studied, the fact that Christ is the last Adam and that he is the one who is to come have struck me the most. This week I have seen a lot of the effects of the first Adam. I have dealt with the sinfulness of some of my residents at my work (and my own sinful response to their sin!) I have mourned from a distance for a friend with a one year old baby girl who lost her husband to a farming accident this week. I am assured that the curse of death feels quite real to her right now and my heart breaks for all that she must be thinking and feeling as she grieves this loss.

And yet, I bless the Lord because we, as His children, live in the hope of the last Adam, the one that will return to usher in His victory over sin and Satan and bring a kingdom of justice, joy, and sinless community. One day this flesh that still loathes my Lord will die a final death and His Spirit in me will live on to praise and know Him without the hindrances of pride or selfishness. One day, the sting of death will be eliminated forever and the effects of the first Adam will be wiped away by the triumph of the last.

All I can say is thank you ,Lord. Thank you for the hope that exists in who you are.

What aspect of who Christ is has encouraged you the most this week?
